Maoists went to Nandigram and Singur to fight against CPI-M goons

BANDWAN, April 5: Maoists called a 24-hour south Bengal bandh in protest against the Nandigram carnage. The bandh was peaceful and more or less spontaneous.
The CPI-ML condemned the police firing in Nandigram in which 14 villagers were killed. The party also issued a barely disguised threat to the CPI-M.
A spokesperson said: "Maoists went to Nandigram and Singur to fight against CPI-M goons." It was also said that a group of Maoists from Purulia and Bankura had visited Nandigram. They, the party spokesperson said, had surveyed the plight of innocent villagers and warned the state government of dire consequences. Meanwhile, police seized leaflets and posters of Maoists at Chakbazar in Bandwan block of Purulia district, nearly 100 km from Purulia town.
The posters, written in red ink, held the chief minister responsible for the killings in Nandigram and declared a death sentence for him.
The deputy chief minister of Jharkhand, Mr Sudhir Mahato, expressed his displeasure over the activities of the Maoists.
During an annual programme of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Soren) at Lalpur in Purulia, he expressed his determination to punish those Maoists who were the responsible for the brutal murder of Mr Sunil Mahato, MP.
