Orissa will have its own industrial security force

BHUBANESWAR: State Police' demand for augmenting the force got green signal from the Finance Department.
A separate unit to tackle law and order situation in industrial hubs will be created while the Intelligence wing will get added manpower, including one DIG and two SPs.
Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei held a meeting with DGP Amarananda Pattanayak in this connection here on Friday. A decision was taken to put in place an industrial security force in view of the rapid industrialisation.
At least seven new police stations will be created in industry hubs. It was decided that 193 intelligence officers will be appointed to contain growing Naxal menace in the State. Similarly, more personnel will be pressed into VIP security.
Pattanayak told the meeting that Orissa Police needs 15,000 more personnel to meet the increasing demand of law and order duty. Similarly, there is a need for Third Battalion and modernisation of police stations will require about Rs 6 crore.
The DGP informed that Home Department has earned Rs 17 crore by providing security for private organisations during the current fiscal. Home Secretary T.K. Mishra and Finance Secretary R.N. Senapati were present at the meeting. Newindpress
