Mangalore: PUCL stage protest against Encounter killings

Mangalore July 13: The Dakshina Kannada unit of Public Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioners office today July 12, 2007, to demand an inquiry into the encounter killings at Menasinahadya in Koppa where five alleged 'Naxalites were killed.
PUCL Dakshina Kannada unit President P B D'Sa addressing the protest meet, said that the home ministry has lost control over the police department who are taking great liberties in matters relating to encounter killings.
He demanded that an FIR should be immediately filed in the jurisdictional station under appropriate sections of the IPC, against the policemen and take immediate action against the officers who carried out the encounter.
