Anger in Rome against Bush

George W. Bush's visit to Rome was expected to arouse anger among many Italians as more than 50,000 demonstrated against the US leader's presence in the city.
As Bush met the Pope on what was their first official meeting angry protesters battled with the police on the streets outside who responded with tear gas.
